GINGER & BASIL TEA FRIED RICE

I love fried rice and I make it often, this time however I tried something new. I made my rice with ginger and basil tea! I love the aroma of basil, and ginger and wanted to bring those flavors to my taste buds in a beautiful way. Cooking my rice using the tea gave it that extra kick and aroma, I mean it was just amazing and I don't think I will ever make my fried rice any other way. Here's a quick and simple recipe for you to try, let me know what you think and please share pictures of your delicious plates! Lets get started.
* I suggest you make your rice a day ahead, because 1-2 day old rice make for better fried rice
So the main twist here is that we are going to use the ginger and basil tea to cook the rice we are going to use for the fried rice. After making the tea, make sure you sit it aside until it cools. I advise that you cook your white rice according to the package direction, and instead of using water we are going to use our tea. Lets make our tea first. Follow the instructions below to get started on this yummy fried rice!
GINGER AND BASIL TEA

Ingredients:
1 thumb size piece of ginger minced/ or 12 pieces thinly sliced
6 pieces of fresh basil leave
Method: bring 4 cups of water to boil. Add ginger and basil leaves into the boiling water. Cover and let sit for 15-20 mins. Strain and toss the ginger and basil leaves and sit tea aside to cool completely. Once completely cool make your rice as instructed, but replace water quantity with tea. So if you are making 1 cup of rice and the directions say add 2 cups of water, you will do 1 cups of rice and 2 cups of basil and ginger tea instead. After making your rice, place in the fridge and get ready to use the next day for your meal. If you are cooking right away, I suggest letting your rice cool in the fridge for 3+ hours before using.
Now that you have your ginger and basil tea rice ready let's make our fried rice.
